El-Aurians in Canon
I decided to include a section about El-Aurians found in the shows which are considered canon. I have not included any characters found in the books as I do not read them. If you would like to suggest any characters found in books (including the Title of the book as well as a brief description of the character, I can add it to this page.) Click on the character name to open the bio page from startrek.com.
Guinan is the most well-known El-Aurian character in canon and was seen on many episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation from seasons 2 onward. She is the basis of most of the known information concerning the El-Aurian species. It isn’t known whether or not “Guinan” is her true birth name or not, as Q professes that she was known by another name when he met her in the 2260’s. Personally, I think if it IS her name, it’s her family name. This is based on Samuel Clemens referring to her as “Madame Guinan” in the late 1800’s and she referred to him as “My Dear Mr. Clemens”. High Society would not interchange salutations (i.e. First name for Family name).
Dr. Soran is probably the second most well-known El-Aurian character in canon as seen on Star Trek: Generations and known as the man who killed Kirk. He was mentally unstable after having been enraptured in the Nexus Energy Ribbon in 2293.
Martus was an El-Aurian con-artist who set up a competing bar on Deep Space Nine to run Quark out of business. He was responsible for implementing a device that altered probability of mathematics on a large scale.
Terkim
The only information we know about Terkim is that he was Guinan’s uncle, and was considered a “black sheep” of the family. What little information can be found under Guinan’s official entry at startrek.com.
